The Hacker e-zine, Phrack makes a comeback after four years
Those who are into hacking may be familiar with the venerable Phrack e-zine. Phrack is an ezine written by and for hackers first published November 17, 1985. Described by Fyodor as “the best, and by far the longest running hacker zine,” it has a wide circulation which includes both hackers and computer security professionals. Phrack “has had its finger on the pulse of hacker culture” and is considered both a handbook and a manifesto for hackers
However due to some reasons it stopped publishing in 2012. The last issue was in April 2012, hacker e-zine made a comeback yesterday with Issue No.69.
In the issue, the Phrack editors have apologized for its tardiness, but have promises to publish new, peer-reviewed technical papers and notes on a rolling basis, as they come in, and invite submissions. The current issue features several significant peer-reviewed information security papers, including an excellent piece on a Flash bug and another on the use of hypervisors to abet rootkits.
The issue also has the standard Phrack fare: scene reports from around the world (with an inside history of the Spanish hacking scene), and a nice editorial tracking the fall of hacker groups.
