Paytm removed

Google has removed Paytm from the Google Play store along with Paytm First Games app for violating its gambling policies. The Paytm iOS app is available to download from Apple App Store.

The app was removed due to the recent addition of the fantasy cricket tournament which violates the Google play policies.

Paytm is India’s most popular financial services app that has over 50 million monthly active users. The app, owned by One97 Communications Ltd, other apps owned by the company such as Paytm For Business, Paytm Money, Paytm Mall, and others are available on the Play Store.

Google has removed the Paytm app as it violates the Google Play gambling policies in India. According to Google play gambling policy they “don’t allow online casinos or support any unregulated gambling apps that facilitate sports betting.”

Paytm removed as it promotes the fantasy sports service within its app that violates the Play Store’s policies.

“Google Play is designed to provide a safe and secure experience for our consumers while also giving developers the platform and tools they need to build sustainable businesses. Our global policies have always been designed with that goal in mind, considering the good of all our stakeholders,” Suzanne Frey, Vice President, Product, Android Security and Privacy.

If you are an existing user, you can continue to use the services provided by the company as like before, new users can’t download the app from the Playstore. Google Play Paytm listing shows that “We’re sorry, the requested URL was not found on this server.”

Paytm said in a tweet that the “Paytm Android app is temporarily unavailable on Google’s Play Store for new downloads or updates. It will be back very soon. All your money is completely safe, and you can continue to enjoy your Paytm app as normal.”

Google also warned developers that repeated policy violations may result in serious actions that may include terminating Google Play Developer accounts.

Sources said that Google had notified the developers of Paytm about the removal and they are in continuous touch to bring the app back on Play Store.
