Security Patches Released by Microsoft

Microsoft has released 48 security patches for all supported versions of Windows systems and other products today.

The patches will cover vulnerabilities in Microsoft’s Windows operating system, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Microsoft SharePoint, Adobe Flash Player, Windows Hyper-V and Microsoft SQL Server.

In this month, we heard of a vulnerability that existed in the Windows Search Remote Code Execution Vulnerability (CVE-2017-8620), and can be used as a wormable attack such as the WannaCry ransomware since it uses SMBv1 connection.

A security patch for Adobe Flash Player for Internet Explorer was also released by Microsoft although Adobe would end its support for Flash at end of 2020.

It is highly recommended that all users and IT administrators update their systems with the latest patches that were released today to keep the system secure.

Security updates can be either installed manually or can be installed by going to Settings, Update & security, Windows Update and Check for updates.
